Support Work
Support work speeds and empowers the translation task and provides the framework that allows translation to take place. Without this vital support work, translation would be nearly impossible. It takes a unified team, with different gifts and roles, all working together for a common goal: God’s Word for the whole world.

Teamwork for the Numanggang
At the beginning of his talk, a pastor visiting a Numanggang congregation asked the people to pull out their Bibles. They didn’t have any. When the people didn’t respond, he said, “Oh yeah, you will be getting them tomorrow.” At
this, the congregation burst into applause. They had been waiting for this a long time.
Next the translators stood on one side of the church while a person representing the Numanggang people stood on the other side. The speaker explained that in order for the Numanggang people to get God’s Word, it took a whole team. The congregation watched as a “partnership chain” formed. People from Wycliffe were called up to take their place in the chain. Soon it included pilots, store clerks, linguists, mechanics, and supporters visiting from the U.S. Numanggang people, co-translators, teachers and friends, were also called up front. In the end, the congregation understood that it does take an entire team to produce a New Testament, and God is the team leader.
